We have launched our first project on lab safety! We are tying in the zombie apocalypse and making videos on how to avoid it! It should be fun and very interesting. I have included a copy of the rubric that we will be using and the video from Zombie College to launch it with.

We are super excited here at JMS to share the news that Google Classroom is now allowing parents the ability to access summaries of their students Google Classroom accounts. One of our math teachers, Mrs. Davidson, has made a video to help parents in signing up for their own GAFE account to access their students' summaries of their classes. The beauty of it is that the parents choose the time and the amount of information that they receive about their students' activity in Google Classroom. They may choose daily summaries or weekly summaries to check on student work. Another thing that the teachers like is the fact that not all teachers have to invite the parents. It only requires one invitation from one teacher and all classrooms that the student is enrolled in will automatically be part of the summary. The most difficult task here will be securing parent emails to invite them. A parent MUST be invited in order to sign up for Google Classroom. Parents who want to be invited will need to email one of the students' teachers and ask to be invited. Please look over the class syllabus. Note the different ways that information can be accessed for our science class. There is MINIMUM to NO homework in this class. The students will be expected to utilize their class time and get most if not all of the work done in class. The students will have a copy of this glued into their notebook and the parent and guardian or the student will be able to access as often as needed. Please refer to Gradespeed and share that information with your student so that they can monitor their grades as well. There will be a request for an email address so that the parents/guardians can be invited to create their own Google Classroom account to monitor their student's work.
It's going to be a great year! Finally! Google has provided a way for parents and guardians to see inside their student's classes in Google Classroom. Teachers are thrilled, since this provide more insight and transparency for the parents to be involved in their students classroom tasks, keep up with assignments and turning in homework. See the instructional video that Mrs. Davidson created at JMS for parents on how to create the parent account. |
