Something else that is in the planning is the social studies department is putting together a trip to Washington DC!!! How fun does that sound fun! Hopefully we can all be involved in the planning of that. The informational meeting is tonite in Mrs. Roybals room, 342.
We have made it to the last day of school!!! YAY! For me it's a sad yay.... just because this has been a very special group to me this year. They have adopted me as mom and I would gladly adopt them as well. They are a super competitive group in all aspects, academically and athletically. Both boys and girls are super! Can't wait to see what the future brings for them all. We have 8th grade graduation on Thursday night and then 5 days of flex learning starting on Friday.

7TH GRADE SCIENCE FAIR = HUGE SUCCESS!!! A great big thank you to the parents for being there. It wouldn't have been the success it was without your support. We have received many complinents on every part from last night. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I also wanted to share with you that we went over tornado safety procedures in our class room. There were actually a few that did not know what they were to do at home if there was a tornado. Please, share with your kids what they should do, where they should go and who they should contact if anything were to occur. SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!!!! We are so near the end of the year! We are wrapping up our science fair projects, getting them ready to present next Wednesday, May 22nd. The students should be dressed professionally and be ready to share with the public about their project. We will be setting up at 5.45 and tearing down at 7.30-8.00. I am so excited to see their work. Many of the research papers were great and their boards are really going to rock! The fair will be held in the JMS cafeteria, bring your friends and family. BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
What a great week! It all started off with a trip to the Bob Bullock museum in Austin. What a fun time! I will post the picture of the 7th graders in front of the big star at the museum. This week in science we have been wrapping up our unit on genetics. The kids had to flip a coin to determine the traits of their 'smiley'. The smileys were created in google draw. Some of the traits were green face, yellow, pointy ears, round ears, star eys or blast eyes, male and female. Based on the coin flip the kids determined whether or not the traits were dominant or recessive, heterozygous and homozygous. This created many questions... "how do people end of with 2 different color eyes?" How come my parents hair is dark and mine is blonde? All good questions and needed research to get them answered. So, look back in your family genetics and answer the questions, "who has a widows peak in the family?" "Who did I get my straight hair from, blonde hair, or blue eyes?" Who in your family can rolll their tongue or make it clover |
