This week we started our adventure into space. We are researching several things about 16 different components of our solar system. The students are researching in their groups and taking responsibility for their part of the research.
We also introduced group contracts. The students were asked how will they deal with members who are off task? How will they deal with members who are absent and are responsible for parts of the project? It's great to see their responses on how to deal with these situations. I am encouraged and this brings me to an important piece of conversations we have been having about leadership.
Today I asked our female athletes about who they listen to? In class? On the court? Doing homework? I want them to know who is leading them where. In class we are pushing those students who have a voice that other students listen to to use it to encourage. Use it to promote positives in others. When the voices of others begin to say, just cheat, just talk about her, talk how ever you want....
I want the students to know that their voice can be louder and stronger. I want to see our students care about team mates not doing work. See kids who don't care about the campus and be a positive voice to them.
There is so much leadership that is just waiting to be seen- and heard. Listen closely.....
