The students were able to choose their own objective. I shared with them the TEKS that were studied this year and they were able to choose their favorite or most interested objective. They were then able to choose what ever kind of project they would like to to demonstrate their learning of the objective. Any free time in class is devoted to their project. They also have a pride time class that they are able to use for planning and design. I check in with the 2 times a week on their progress through Google Classroom. They were to copy their objective onto a Google Doc and then beginning their brainstorming process. The next step was to list their materials and begin their plan.
We will check in again this week, they should be adding links and pictures of their plans. The step after will be their first drafts of their models.
I have included some planning documents that were used in the process. The rubric, courtesy of Alice Keeler, is a digital form that allows grading to be done along the way, feedback and then with Flubaroo, emailed back to the student. The parent letter, is to inform them of the importance of the project. It is a final exam, attendance is required. We are hoping that every attempt will be made to attend the event. The practice presentation forms need to be tweaked a bit, but will serve the purpose for now. The final link are the TEKS that were put into a Google Doc -it has readiness standards underlined. The students must focus on the readiness. Differentiation occurs with the students including readiness and supporting.
