We spent most of the week researching for our biomes presentation. The goal to finishing up the research is next Wednesday. We want to spend as much time as possible building the presentation and being as creative as possible.
We are learning so much! The main vocabulary that we are using are adaptations and biodiversity. That is the basis for our research and deciding what organisms need to be presented.
Back at that on Monday.
We took Friday off from researching biomes. We are going to spend our Fridays on our Science Fair. They are to do the back ground research and share- by blog what they are doing and how they are doing it.
The students were given 4 papers for review for their science fair. 1 was the timeline. You can hang that on your refrigerator to keep up with when things are due. One was a parent 'help' sheet. One was a sheet to fill out after sitting down with their parent to fill out and make sure that their project can be completed and parents agree to get supplies.
The last sheet was just information to go to the parents that has my contact info on it and letting them know the importance of it.
The last thing I need to talk about is Gaggle. This is a way that students will be able to electronically communicate with friends and teachers. They will be able to receive and submit assignments. They can chat and even blog. People all over the country that use Gaggle will be able to view their blogs. This will be an excellent source of peer review.
Today the students blogged about their projects. I have been talking about doing this since August and it is just now happening. I am so excited. I think it will benefit the kids 1)in helping them with their writing skills and 2) it creates more accountability for them to 'know' what they are talking about.
Looking forward to next week.
