The students were grouped into 4's and each had to choose 2 catastrophic events to research. After time was given to research the students then did a gallery walk to share information and fill in anything that was missed.
One important thing I noticed: The students did not want to read anything! They only wanted to watch the videos with the Tsunami and the Tornado. The videos were to supplement the idea of the information. We learned what catastrophe means, as well as habitat. Another area that was researched was the impacts that these catastrophes have on habitats, populations and landforms. The students knew much of the information and did very well putting it into words so that others could use the information if needed.
Next week we will we building our online brochures using www.Smore.com, where we will be analyzing weathering, erosion and deposition. We will be tying in the research from this week.
